Once you are in the Forest Park, it is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa and the diversity of species is a feature of the Park. It provides habitat for some 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species. Floristically Bwindi is amongst the most diverse forests in East Africa, with more than 1,000 flowering plant species including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns.
The journey takes 9 – 10 hours which in itself is quite an experience given the beauty the Ugandan countryside offers. Enroute to Bwindi we will not forget a stopover at the Equator (an internationally recognized imaginary line that divides the World into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres) for the Water Experience and a visit Craft Shop in case you would like to buy some souvenirs.

This can take a couple of hours or a whole day depending on the location of the apes. You should therefore, not forget to carry your packed Lunch from the Lodge!
While you tracking the Gorillas, keep an eye out for forest species that are a true reflection of Uganda’s bio diversity. Follow the Mountain Gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest and discover their gorgeous natural habitat and the many species they share it with. Coming face to face with the rare species in their natural habitat is one of the most amazing experiences you have ever had! You will have a chance to observe and take Pictures as you enjoy them from a close range observing adults feeding, groaning and resting as the youngsters play and move backwards and forward in a pleasantly comical demonstration. It is a humbling experience to stand just meters from our distant Cousins as they eat rest, play and bond with their young ones.
