Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Buhoma, Uganda Uganda

Day 1: Drive to Bwindi                                                                                                      

You will be picked by our driver from your accommodation, after which you start your journey to the famous Bwindi Impenetrable National park! This park is mostly famous for the rare mountain gorillas and the drive to the park is incredibly scenic, passing through various local villages and the lush green countryside & hills which characterize so much of south western Uganda.

Once you are in the forest park, it is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa and the diversity of species is a feature of the park. It provides habitat for some 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species. Floristically Bwindi is amongst the most diverse forests in East Africa, with more than 1,000 flowering plant species including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns. The journey takes 10 hours. NB: Don’t forget the stop over at the equator for the water experience! And craft shop visit in case you would like to buy some souvenirs.

Day 2:  Gorilla tracking day!

Today you go to track the rare mountain gorillas. After a briefing from your ranger guide, begin tracking the mountain gorillas through the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This can take a couple of hours or a whole day depending on the location of the apes. You will trek at Buhomma Side Keep an eye out for forest species such as buffaloes, elephants, black fronted duikers and bush bucks. NB; do not forget to carry your packed lunch from Buhomma Community Rest Camp. It is a humbling experience to stand just meters from man’s distant cousins as they eat rest, play and bond with their young.

Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest and discover their gorgeous natural habitat and the many species they share it with. Coming face to face is one of the most amazing experience you have ever have, you will have a chance to observe and take pictures as you enjoy them from a close range observing adults feeding, groaning and resting as the youngsters play and move backwards and forward in a pleasantly comical demonstration. Thereafter, you will drive back to your hotel for an overnight. You can rest your tired legs and restorative massage, offered from the gorilla tracking experience!

Day 3: Community Experience; Batwa Trail

Have breakfast and take a community walk along with your guide where you will have a chance to meet with various people who are amazed by shaking hands with white people. You will have a chance to get exposed to their culture, their way of living their daily life. See how they dig and the traditional way of preparing foods, the way they generally survive and most amazingly their beautiful cultural dances and songs. Then also experience the Batwa special people with their traditions.  Later in the Evening retire to your lodge as you reminisce this magical experience.

Day 4: Transfer To Bunyonyi , Do optional Activities

After your breakfast, you will start your journey to a beautiful island in Lake Bunyonyi, the “Lake of the little birds”. It’s one of the most beautiful places of Uganda. Being surrounded by hills, people call it “The Switzerland of Africa. Lake Bunyonyi lies in south western Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale. It is one of the few lakes in the region that is rumored to be free of bilharzia and safe for swimming. Upon your arrival at the lodge, you may decide to engage in one or many of the following activities Bird watching, Motor-boat trips with guide, Canoe hire with guides, Canoe trekking, Fishing, Safe swimming in the lake, visiting Kisizi Falls, community visit with a guide, Visiting one of the many Islands among others.

Day 5: Have breakfast and depart for Kampala or Entebbe at leisure

You will be dropped at your accommodation or at the Airport for your flight.
